In 1966 the Cuban Cohiba was created exclusively for Castro's personal use and dispensation to fortunatef foreign diplomats. Publicly available since 1982, Cubatabacos Cohiba launched the Siglo Series in 1992. Siglo, "or century," is a series of cigars commemorating the centuries of Spanish colonization following Columbus' landing in the New World. Each cigar in this series is larger than its predecessor, symbolizing the growth and history of the Cuban people. The Siglo series are full-bodied cigars with hints of coffee and pepper, a general strong earthen tone, and a slightly sweet finish. These cigars burn slowly, and the five and six series draw more easily than the one, two and three series. The smoother draw makes these larger cigars a more powerful smoking experience.
